Compulsory Purchase Order

What is CPO all about?
A Local Authority or the National Roads Authority can decide to acquire land for the purpose of building new roads or similar projects.  If such a project is to go ahead notices must be served on the owners of the land concerned and the compulsory purchase order system is designed a) to allow such projects to go ahead and b) to compensate the land owners for having their lands compulsorily removed or acquired.  When you are served with a
CPO notice it can feel like an attack on your property and can be a source of worry.  The important thing is to engage in the process at an early stage and to take professional advice and that is where we can help you.

If you are about to be affected by a CPO and the registered letters have started to arrive, YOU NEED:

  1. A professional valuer with experience in matters of CPO.
  2. Contact us.
  3. Put your thoughts down on paper i.e. what difficulties you might experience when the proposed new road is in place / how will it affect you or your business afterwards.
